YouTube Tightens Monetization Rules as Platform Targets Mass-Produced Content | ChatZyr

YouTube Policy Update: YouTube is putting greater emphasis on original, authentic content while clarifying how repetitive and mass-produced videos are treated under its monetisation rules.
The platform renamed its previous “repetitious content” policy as “inauthentic content” in July 2025, clarifying that repetitive or mass-produced videos are not eligible for monetisation. YouTube said the change was a clarification of an existing standard, rather than a completely new monetization rule.
The policy does not mean that creators cannot use artificial intelligence. YouTube has specifically said AI tools can be used to enhance storytelling, and AI-assisted channels can remain eligible for monetisation as long as they follow the platform’s policies. However, realistic altered or synthetic content may need to be disclosed.
YouTube says monetised content should be original and should not be mass-produced, generic, repetitive or created primarily to generate views. Examples can include videos that repeatedly use almost identical narration, formats or slideshows with only superficial changes.
What changed in October 2026?
Separately, YouTube updated its advertiser-friendly content guidelines in October 2026. The update clarifies that certain public-interest content, including congressional proceedings and debates involving ongoing government actions, can be eligible for advertising revenue under the relevant guidelines.
For creators, the key message is simple: AI is not the target. Low-value, repetitive and mass-produced content is.
Creators using AI should therefore focus on adding genuine originality, useful information, commentary, storytelling or other meaningful value rather than producing large volumes of near-identical videos.
