US Vice President JD Vance Reports Attempted Break-In at Ohio Home, Suspect Taken Into Custody

Washington / Ohio — US Vice President JD Vance confirmed on Monday that an attempted break-in occurred at his Ohio residence, after what he described as a “crazy person” allegedly tried to force entry by hammering on the home’s windows. Vance emphasized that he and his family were not present at the time of the incident.
According to CNN, which cited a US law enforcement source, authorities launched an immediate investigation and one individual was taken into custody following the security breach attempt.
In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter), Vance expressed gratitude to law enforcement agencies for their swift response.
“As far as I can tell, a crazy person tried to break in by hammering the windows. I’m grateful to the Secret Service and the Cincinnati Police Department for responding quickly,” Vance wrote.
The vice president added that his family had already returned to Washington, DC, and urged media outlets to avoid publishing images of the property, particularly those showing damage to the windows.
The US Secret Service has not yet issued an official public statement regarding the incident.
Growing Concerns Over Political Violence in the US
The incident involving Vice President Vance marks the latest in a series of security threats targeting US elected officials, underscoring growing concerns over political violence and public safety.
In June last year, a senior Democratic Minnesota state lawmaker and her husband were fatally shot in what authorities described as a politically motivated attack.
In April, an arson attack targeted the residence of Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, while his family was inside the home.
The situation also echoes the October 2022 attack on the San Francisco home of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, when an intruder assaulted her husband with a hammer.
