ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif departed for a brief official visit to Saudi Arabia on Thursday at the invitation of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, according to the Prime Minister’s Office of Pakistan.
The Prime Minister’s Office said the visit is aimed at strengthening Pakistan-Saudi ties and addressing evolving regional developments, particularly ongoing tensions in the Middle East.
During the visit, Sharif is expected to hold a high-level meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in Riyadh. Officials said the leaders will exchange views on regional security challenges, diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions, and ways to enhance bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
According to the PMO statement released in Islamabad on Thursday, the visit reflects Pakistan’s continued engagement in diplomatic dialogue across the region.
“This visit highlights Pakistan’s positive role in the diplomatic arena, and Pakistan will continue to play this role,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in its official briefing.
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia maintain longstanding strategic relations covering economic cooperation, energy, defence collaboration, and support for regional stability. Analysts say the meeting comes at a sensitive moment as Middle East tensions continue to influence global security and economic dynamics.
