Pakistan, US Agree on Joint Crackdown Against Fraudulent Visa Networks

Pakistan and the United States have agreed to launch joint action against fraudulent visa networks under comprehensive standard operating procedures, following high-level talks in Islamabad on Saturday.
The decision was made during a meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker, according to an official handout issued by the Interior Ministry. The discussion covered Pakistan–US relations and expanded cooperation on immigration control and law enforcement.
Both sides agreed to intensify coordination against organized visa fraud, with a focus on dismantling so-called “agent mafia” networks involved in forged documents and illegal immigration. Minister Naqvi said Pakistan has adopted a zero-tolerance policy toward fraudulent agents and confirmed that he is personally supervising enforcement actions.
Naqvi also highlighted recent technological upgrades to Pakistani passports, stating that enhanced security features have made the travel document more secure. He noted that illegal immigration has become a serious concern and acknowledged Washington’s ongoing crackdown on unlawful entry into the United States.
According to the interior minister, Pakistan’s measures have led to a 47 percent decline in illegal immigration, adding that no leniency will be shown to individuals involved in fraudulent documentation networks.
US Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker said Washington attaches special importance to its relationship with Pakistan, noting that aligned priorities and stronger cooperation would further enhance bilateral ties. Discussions also included police training initiatives and improving the effectiveness of pre-immigration clearance systems.
