Hamza Zahoor Stars as Pakistan U-19 Beat Afghanistan in Thrilling Last-Ball Win

Harare: Pakistan Under-19 team pulled off an amazing one-wicket win against Afghanistan in a thrilling match at the Harare Sports Club on Saturday.

Hamza Zahoor played a sensational unbeaten 68, guiding Pakistan to victory in the final over. At one point, Pakistan was struggling at 201-9 while chasing 227. Hamza and number eleven Niqab Shafiq put on a last-wicket partnership of 29 runs. Hamza hit the winning boundary with three balls to spare to complete the chase.

Needing 26 runs from 25 balls, Hamza took charge, protecting his partner and hitting important boundaries. A six off bowler Abdul Aziz in the 46th over gave Pakistan hope. The last over required 5 runs, and Hamza hit a four on the first ball and another boundary on the third to finish on 68 from 51 balls, with eight fours and one six.

Earlier, Afghanistan scored 226 all out in their 50 overs. Opener Osman Sadat made 75, and captain Mahboob Khan added 49. Pakistan’s bowlers, especially leg-spinner Usman Khan, were impressive, with Usman taking 4 wickets for 37 runs.

Pakistan’s chase was difficult. They lost early wickets and were 42-3 before captain Farhan Yousaf steadied the innings with 65 runs. However, a collapse triggered by Salam Khan, who gave away 44 runs for 4 wickets, put Pakistan in trouble. Hamza’s brilliant innings saved the team.

This win strengthens Pakistan U-19’s reputation as a strong team, following their recent Asia Cup triumph where they beat rivals India in the final.
