Pakistan Name Salman Ali Agha as T20 World Cup Captain, PCB Unveils 15-Member Squad

Pakistan has named Salman Ali Agha as captain of the national men’s team for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced a 15-member squad during an official press briefing at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, on Sunday.
The squad announcement was made by PCB High Performance Director Aqib Javed, who addressed the media alongside Salman Ali Agha and white-ball head coach Michael James Hesson. The selection reflects a strategic balance of experience and emerging talent as Pakistan prepares for a demanding international schedule.
Former captains Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi remain part of the squad, offering leadership depth and tournament experience. Several players — including Faheem Ashraf, Khawaja Mohammad Nafay, Mohammad Salman Mirza, Sahibzada Farhan, and Usman Tariq — have received their maiden ICC Men’s T20 World Cup call-ups, marking a significant milestone in their international careers.
According to PCB officials, the squad has been assembled with a focus on versatility and adaptability ahead of the 20-team tournament, scheduled to run from February 7 to March 8. Teams will compete in four group-stage matches before progressing to the Super Eight and knockout rounds.
As part of preparations, Pakistan will face Australia in a three-match T20I series at Gaddafi Stadium on January 29, 31, and February 1, with the national training camp commencing immediately. Salman Ali Agha has also been entrusted with captaincy duties for that series.
