Pakistan Intensifies Diplomatic Push as Middle East Crisis Escalates, Says Ishaq Dar

Pakistan has launched urgent high-level diplomatic outreach as tensions surge across the Middle East, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar said Monday in Islamabad, warning that developments over the past 72 hours are “extremely worrisome.”
Speaking during a formal media briefing at the Foreign Office, Dar confirmed that Pakistan is engaging regional and global stakeholders following reported US and Israeli strikes inside Iran. He stressed that Islamabad is calling for immediate de-escalation, restraint, and a return to dialogue in line with the UN Charter and international law.
A high-level security review meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was held Sunday to assess the evolving regional situation. Pakistan’s permanent representative also reiterated Islamabad’s condemnation of attacks on Iran during an emergency session of the United Nations Security Council.
Dar disclosed that he recently spoke with Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi, conveying Pakistan’s position that diplomacy must remain the only viable path forward. While acknowledging Iran’s stated position of self-defence, Dar said attacks affecting Gulf states were regrettable and underscored the need for maximum restraint.
He confirmed that Pakistan’s embassies in the Gulf region are actively coordinating with local authorities to ensure the safety of Pakistani nationals.
Operation Ghazab lil-Haq
On Afghanistan, Dar defended Operation Ghazab lil-Haq as a calibrated response to cross-border militant threats. He said intelligence-based targeting was conducted against camps linked to TTP and IS-KP, adding that Pakistan’s actions were proportionate and carefully planned to avoid civilian harm.
