ISLAMABAD: Millions of Muslims across Pakistan and around the world marked Eid-ul-Fitr with prayers, charity, and vibrant celebrations, as the holy month of Ramazan came to a close in a powerful display of faith and unity.
In Pakistan, massive Eid congregations were held in Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, and Peshawar, where worshippers gathered in the early hours to offer special prayers. Sermons across major mosques emphasized compassion, social responsibility, and national cohesion amid ongoing economic challenges.
President Asif Ali Zardari, in his official Eid message released in Islamabad, urged citizens to support the underprivileged and strengthen unity. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, speaking after Eid prayers in Lahore, highlighted resilience and collective strength as key to navigating current challenges.
In Albania, Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated with equal devotion, particularly in Tirana and Shkodër, where large gatherings reflected the country’s deep-rooted Islamic heritage. Bujar Spahiu, Head of the Albanian Muslim Community, said in Tirana during Eid prayers that the occasion should serve as a reminder of unity, kindness, and coexistence across societies.
Families in both Pakistan and Albania came together to share traditional meals, exchange gifts, and extend charitable support to those in need, reinforcing the core values of Eid.
Across the wider Muslim world, from the Middle East to Europe, Asia, and Africa, global Eid celebrations highlighted a shared spiritual identity that transcends borders, cultures, and languages.
Why it matters now: Eid-ul-Fitr arrives at a time of global uncertainty, reinforcing unity, compassion, and social responsibility among millions from Pakistan to Albania, strengthening bonds across the Muslim world.
