At least six Palestinians were killed in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip on Thursday, according to Gaza's civil defence agency and local health officials, underscoring the fragile state of the ceasefire and the lack of progress toward a permanent peace agreement.

According to Gaza's civil defence agency, two people were killed and several others injured after an Israeli drone strike hit the Nuseirat refugee camp in central Gaza. Four more people were reported killed in separate incidents involving drone strikes and gunfire elsewhere in the territory. Hospitals across Gaza confirmed receiving the bodies of the six victims.

A Palestinian security source said one Israeli drone strike targeted a vehicle linked to Hazem Qassem, a Hamas spokesperson. Qassem was reportedly not inside the vehicle at the time of the strike, but his bodyguard was killed.

The Israeli military had not immediately commented on the reported attacks.

Although a ceasefire has been in effect since October last year, violence has continued through periodic military operations and exchanges of fire, while negotiations aimed at reaching a comprehensive agreement to end the conflict remain stalled.

According to Gaza's health ministry, more than 1,090 Palestinians have been killed since the ceasefire took effect. The Israeli military says five soldiers and one civilian contractor have also been killed in Gaza during the same period.

Independent verification of casualty figures remains difficult because international media face significant restrictions on access to Gaza, limiting their ability to report freely from the ground.

The latest attacks highlight the continued volatility of the conflict and the humanitarian challenges facing Gaza's civilian population as diplomatic efforts to secure a lasting ceasefire continue.
