Greenland Pushes Back: ‘We Do Not Want to Be American’

Greenland’s leadership has been firm in rejecting Trump’s ambitions. Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen said ahead of the talks that Greenland does not want to become part of the United States, stressing that the island’s future must be decided by its own people.

Trump responded sharply, warning that such resistance would be “a big problem”.

Soon after the White House talks, a US congressional delegation — largely Democrats, with one Republican — was scheduled to visit Copenhagen to show support for Denmark as tensions continue to rise.
