Cold Wave to Persist Across Pakistan as PMD Issues Fresh Advisory

A cold wave is expected to persist across large parts of Pakistan as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) issued a fresh weather advisory following widespread snowfall and rain in northern and western regions.

According to the PMD advisory issued on Wednesday evening in Islamabad, cold and dry conditions will continue in most parts of the country, while very cold weather is likely to prevail in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and upper Punjab over the next 24 to 48 hours.

PMD officials said temperatures in hilly areas may remain below freezing, particularly during nighttime and early morning hours. Plains are also expected to experience dense fog in isolated areas, potentially affecting road and air travel.

Authorities in northern districts have advised residents and travelers to take precautionary measures, especially in areas affected by recent snowfall where road conditions remain sensitive. Power supply disruptions reported earlier are gradually being restored, according to local administration officials.

The Met Office noted that while no widespread snowfall is forecast immediately, cold winds and low temperatures will continue to impact daily routines, agriculture, and transport.
