Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Calls for Stronger Provincial Role to Fix Pakistan’s Federal Financial Crisis

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Saturday called for giving provinces greater authority, especially in tax collection, to help resolve Pakistan’s federal government financial crisis.

Speaking at the death anniversary of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, Bilawal said empowering provinces would strengthen revenue collection and ease pressure on the Centre. He stated that provinces could perform better than the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and help stabilize the economy.

Bilawal also proposed transferring responsibilities such as electricity distribution to provincial governments, saying decentralization was key to solving Pakistan’s economic challenges. He emphasized political reconciliation, unity, and responsible politics to overcome the country’s financial and political crises.
