Bangladesh Air Chief Meets Pakistan’s Top Military Leadership to Strengthen Defence Cooperation
The Air Chief of Bangladesh on Thursday held high-level meetings with Pakistan’s senior military leadership to discuss enhancing bilateral defence cooperation, regional security, and military collaboration between the two countries.
Bangladesh Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal (ACM) Hasan Mahmood Khan met Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, according to a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
Key Focus Areas of the Meeting
During the meeting, both sides discussed:
Matters of mutual interest
Regional and strategic security dynamics
Ways to strengthen bilateral defence and military cooperation
The ISPR said both military leaders emphasized the importance of:
Professional military collaboration
Joint training programs
Stronger defence ties between the armed forces of Pakistan and Bangladesh
ACM Khan praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and appreciated their role in promoting regional peace and stability. In response, Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining long-term and enduring defence relations with Bangladesh, calling the relationship a reflection of the strong bonds between the two brotherly nations.

In a separate meeting, ACM Hasan Mahmood Khan met Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf at the Naval Headquarters in Islamabad.
According to the ISPR, discussions focused on:
Evolving regional security challenges
Maritime security cooperation
Further strengthening bilateral defence ties
The Bangladeshi air chief acknowledged the high professional standards of the Pakistan Navy and expressed interest in expanding military collaboration. Both sides agreed to:
Increase high-level military exchanges
Expand joint training exercises
Enhance interoperability and coordination
Admiral Ashraf highlighted Pakistan Navy’s ongoing efforts and initiatives aimed at ensuring regional maritime peace and stability.
Growing Defence Ties Between Pakistan and Bangladesh
ACM Khan is leading a high-level defence delegation during his official visit to Pakistan. Earlier this week, he met his Pakistani counterpart, where both air chiefs discussed the potential procurement of JF-17 Thunder fighter aircraft, according to the ISPR.
The ISPR noted that the visit reflects deepening defence relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh, following Admiral Ashraf’s landmark visit to Dhaka in November 2025. During that visit, the naval chief met Bangladesh’s senior military leadership and toured the National Defence College and Bangladesh Naval Academy, calling it a milestone in defence diplomacy.
